Carnelian Bay is the quiet middle of Lake Tahoe's North Shore — residential, forested, and refreshingly free of crowds, yet within a few minutes of nearly everything. Walk or drive down to the lake for Patton Landing and the Carnelian Bay beaches. Gar Woods Grill & Pier is the local institution for a Wet Woody on the deck at sunset; Waterman's Landing serves the best coffee and paddleboard rentals on this stretch of shoreline. Tahoe City sits a short drive away with grocery stores, the Truckee River rafting put-in, and a farmers' market in summer. Kings Beach lies just east with restaurants, a wide sandy beach and boat rentals. Incline Village and the Nevada side are a scenic drive around the north shore. In winter, you're positioned between the North Shore's biggest mountains — Northstar, Palisades Tahoe and Alpine Meadows, Diamond Peak and Mt. Rose all within easy reach.

A car is essential here. Free on-site parking is included for a max of 2 vehicles. The condo sits up a hill off Highway 28. In winter, the access road can be snowy or icy — we strongly recommend a vehicle with all-wheel drive and snow tires, and chains carried in the car. Placer County and Caltrans enforce chain controls during storms, and mountain weather can change quickly. The TART bus runs along Highway 28 connecting Tahoe City, Kings Beach and Incline Village, and free micro-transit is available in the North Lake Tahoe area — this may be a good option on powder days when resort parking fills early.
